Finnian Hanrahan

At Science Foundation Ireland, Finnian is responsibility for SFI Research Centres in the domains of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and health.


Prior to joining Science Foundation Ireland, Finnian worked for the European Commission in Brussels. There he was responsible for a portfolio of research and innovation on vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics. A particular focus of Finnian’s work was the strategic design of research programmes for pandemic diseases. This included bringing together academics, small and medium enterprises, large pharmaceutical companies, and international funders.


Finnian has a background in genetics and was awarded a PhD from Trinity College Dublin in 2013.
