Introducing Pharma Leader 2018: Paul Duffy

While shortlisted candidates across 22 categories will have to wait until the night of the Pharma Industry Awards to be held at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin, on Tuesday, October 23rd, to find out if they are successful, one recipient has already been named.


Paul Duffy will receive the Pharma Leader 2018, sponsored by Zenith Technologies, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the growth of the pharma industry in Ireland.

Paul Duffy has been with Pfizer for almost 30 years joining the company back in 1991 as Manufacturing Manager of Little Island. He quickly moved up in the company and was subsequently appointed Supply Chain Director in 1997, Site Leader, Little Island (1999); Director/Team Leader, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing, Ringaskiddy (2002); and, Site Leader, Ringaskiddy (2003).



In his 27 years with Pfizer Paul has worked across manufacturing and management of the Irish sites and now works in global manufacturing as Pfizer Global Supply Vice President of Small Molecule Operations. In this role he is responsible for Small Molecule Manufacturing Sites across the network.



Paul is currently Chairperson of the Workplace Relations Commission and over the years has been a Board Member of various organisations such as; IDA, American Chamber of Commerce, Life Science Ireland, Co-operation Ireland and Cork Chamber of Commerce. In 2009 he was President of the American Chamber of Commerce.


He holds a B.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University College Galway and an M.B.A. from the Open University in the U.K.


Paul is married to Karen and has three daughters, Rachel, Alison & Emily.
