Irish pharmaceutical manufacturer Dunbar Pharma is expanding its European supply activities for plant-derived dronabinol, following its entry into the German and UK markets.

The Athlone-based company will attend expopharm 2026 in Munich from 15 to 17 September, where it will discuss API quality, batch consistency and supply with pharmacists and pharmaceutical partners. Its expopharm exhibitor profile confirms its presence at Hall A2, Stand A43.

Dunbar Pharma manufactures its WaterClear THC™ dronabinol API at an EU GMP-certified facility in Athlone. The company specialises in plant-derived cannabinoid APIs and says its manufacturing process includes full batch traceability to support consistent supply to regulated pharmaceutical markets.

The company's European expansion comes as pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmacies place greater emphasis on API quality, consistency and reliable supply. At expopharm, Dunbar Pharma will focus on the limitations of relying solely on a certificate of analysis when assessing an API, highlighting manufacturing standards and batch-to-batch consistency.

Dunbar Pharma has also expanded into the UK through an agreement with IPS Pharma, which is supplying its plant-derived dronabinol through the UK's regulated Specials framework. The UK partnership enables the API to be used in cannabis-based medicinal products including capsules, oral sprays and oily solutions.

For pharmaceutical manufacturers, the development illustrates how API supply has become an important consideration alongside production and regulatory compliance. Consistent ingredients, validated processes and traceability can support continuity when medicines are manufactured or compounded for individual patients.

The move also gives Dunbar's Irish manufacturing operation a wider role in European pharmaceutical supply. The company says its facility is operating at commercial scale, with its products intended for regulated markets including Germany and the UK.

Dunbar's presence at expopharm provides an opportunity to engage directly with pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies as it develops those markets. The company said its European supply strategy is focused on providing pharmaceutical-grade dronabinol through regulated supply channels.
