Dr. Nuala Calnan, CEO of Biopharm Excel and Founder of The Quality Risk Management Institute (QRMi), has been announced as a judge for the Pharma Industry Awards 2025, bringing over 25 years of leadership and expertise in the biopharmaceutical and medtech sectors.

A recognized authority in operations, new product introduction, and manufacturing, Dr. Calnan has dedicated her career to advancing quality, data governance, and cultural excellence across the life sciences industry. She delivers consultancy, research, and training that enables organisations to achieve operational and regulatory excellence while fostering patient-centered outcomes. 

Her research portfolio is extensive, including collaborative projects with the FDA exploring how quality management maturity, metrics, and organisational culture impact performance, as well as investigations with Ireland’s HPRA on product recalls. These initiatives have positioned her at the forefront of regulatory science and industry best practices.

Beyond consultancy and research, Dr. Calnan co-leads ISPE’s Quality Culture Team and serves as an adjunct research fellow at TU Dublin, supervising PhD and Masters-level projects focused on patient-centered regulatory science. She also teaches on the Executive MBA for Life Sciences at the Graduate Business School, TU Dublin, sharing her knowledge with the next generation of industry leaders and instilling a culture of excellence and innovation.

Her appointment to the judging panel underscores the Awards’ commitment to recognising quality, operational excellence, and innovation in Ireland’s pharmaceutical industry.
