Uniphar, the Dublin-headquartered pharmaceutical wholesaler and healthcare services provider, has acquired TouchStore, a Limerick-based software provider for community pharmacies in Ireland. The acquisition allows TouchStore to continue operating as a separate legal entity, retaining its 35-strong development and support team.

Ger Rabbette, Uniphar CEO, said: “Uniphar was founded by pharmacists to support community pharmacies. Supporting the community pharmacy sector in playing its critical role in the Irish healthcare system is our core foundation and remains as true today as it did 60 years ago. Our investment in TouchStore, along with our state-of-the-art wholesale distribution facility, enables us to further enhance our wholesale service offering to the community pharmacy sector.”

TouchStore’s Managing Director Ger Cassidy added: “Like Uniphar, we are wholly committed to supporting our community pharmacy customers. The pharmacy landscape is evolving rapidly. Uniphar’s backing will help TouchStore to continue to lead pharmacy technology innovation and allow us to provide our pharmacy customers with the support they need, as the HSE and the wider sector move more towards digital operations. Our technology is wholesaler agnostic, so we will continue to be able to work with all pharmacies in the Irish market.”

The acquisition complements Uniphar’s investment in a new state-of-the-art wholesale distribution centre in Dublin, which will double the team’s operational capacity and enhance efficiency across its supply chain.

The combined move strengthens Uniphar’s position as a leading provider of pharma services, spanning Uniphar Pharma, Uniphar Medtech, and Uniphar Supply Chain and Retail, and reinforces its commitment to digital innovation in the pharmacy sector.
